Kunafa, whose original name is knafeh, is a traditional Arabic sweet. Generally, kunafa is made with Dough, Cheese, Almond, Pista, Rose water, and Kaymak. But today we will Make homemade kunafa with easy ingredients that even the sugar patients can enjoy. This Kunafa sweet is a completely healthy and diabetic friendly sweet.

Let’s learn the recipe of Arabic sweet kunafa.

Kunafa Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients that we will use to make Palestinian knafeh (kunafa) are:

  • Butter
  • Paneer
  • Cheese
  • Coconut
  • Diabexy Sugar
  • Pistachio (Pista)

I have taken here Diabexy Sugar because it is low in glycemic load and does not increase your blood sugar levels which makes it healthier for sugar patients you can buy it from the link. For butter, I would suggest white butter instead of yellow butter. White butter is healthier than yellow butter. If possible, use homemade paneer.

How to Make the Best Kunafa Recipe? 

To make authentic cheese kunafa first, ensure that you have all the ingredients mentioned above. Now follow the guidelines carefully to make kunafa.

  • Take 100 gm desiccated coconut and 40 gm butter in a bowl and mix them properly.

  • Now take a separate baking tin and grease it with butter.

  • Now spread some of the mixture into the baking tin.  
  • In the next step we will add 100 gm grated paneer into the mixture and press it with the spoon.

  • After adding paneer, Spread mozzarella cheese just above the added paneer.

  • Now add the remaining part of your coconut mixture into it.

Now bake it in the oven at 180° C for at least 25 min. and if you don’t have the oven then take a steel pan and cook it in low heat for at least 20 min. And don’t forget to cover the pan.

Till our kunafa is cooked we will make our syrup to make it sweat.

  • Take a glass of water (200 ml) and add 30 gm diabexy sugar to it.

  • Note: If you are not diabetic then you can use your regular sugar. 
  • Now boil it for 5 min.

Now our Syrup is ready, coat this syrup on both sides above and the base sides of your kunafa.

You can also add pista above it to make it more attractive. Now your Kunafa is ready to serve, enjoy your meal.
